Formed in June 09, Here Come the Belgians is a non-elite anti-team celebrating all things cross, cobbled and Belgian.
Seeking a different experience to the traditional cycling club, its aim is to harness the energy of a vibrant internet cycling community with grass roots racing and riding based around Cyclocross and Spring Classics. There is no race programme in the style of a racing team, more a collection of individual experiences through rides and racing, in whatever location a member may be, that all can share in and contribute toward.

Yorkshire Points Round 3 Oakbank

Oakbank was traditionally the season opener in Yorkshire for a number of years, an innocuous looking parcours that actually packs a lot into a small arena. After the stunning weather of the firs two rounds there was the forecast of heavy rain for Sunday in stark contrast to Saturday's sunshine. After a few warm up laps in the dry my legs were not feeling their best but were not completely shot from Saturday either. Paul was in a similar way I guessed, John had only ridden the aborted Novices race and Keith managed to 'forget' his BC licence so opted not to ride - how convenient ;->

A reasonable start in the pouring rain rapidly deteriorated as I made a number of errors miss judging corners and cambers. In the slick conditions there was an element of 'It's a Knockout' with riders taking comedy tumbles, someone just clipped me but it was enough to land me on my backside and in an effort to regain lost ground the inevitable happened and I hit the deck loosing a number of places and nearly knocking the pivot pin out of my left shifter. From then on I seemed to loose all rhythm/skill and it became a slog to the finish.
