Formed in June 09, Here Come the Belgians is a non-elite anti-team celebrating all things cross, cobbled and Belgian.
Seeking a different experience to the traditional cycling club, its aim is to harness the energy of a vibrant internet cycling community with grass roots racing and riding based around Cyclocross and Spring Classics. There is no race programme in the style of a racing team, more a collection of individual experiences through rides and racing, in whatever location a member may be, that all can share in and contribute toward.

Hell of the North Cotswolds

Yep, I know. Sounds like a trip to the organic farmers market to find they are out of quails eggs!

However, those of us in the know, will be flogging around the Cotswold escarpment on the first Sunday of the Easter Holidays on one of the longest running sportive/CX enduros in the country.

We don't have cobbles down here but fortunately we have some very fine potholes, and bridleways that have been churned up by The Pony Club. The main event is 100k and zigzags around Countryfile and Top Gear land with some fine technical descents and muddy slogs.

Any other Belgians riding? I have one spare place as one "mate" has decided to ride to Paris with his sister that weekend.

Hell of North (Cheshire)

I'll start with an apology / acknowledgement: this is most definitely inspired by Alan's Ronde, Duncan's Floubaix and the Saddleworth Clarion L'enfer du Saddleworth.

Now the main event: over at North Cheshrie Clarion, we run both Saturday and Sunday rides. The Sunday ride is the "typical" club run, and the Saturday is slightly shorter and (supposedly) slower. The Saturday attracts a good crowd who often can't make a Sunday, so we've decided to run a few themed rides on a Saturday to add a few extra challenges. The day before Roubaix we're going to run a 40-mile-ish pavé & gravé ride from North Warrington and heading out into the Cheshire countryside (cobbles sections up to 250m long, unmade roads with significantly longer sections) with a cafe stop at Dunham Massey.

The final details (ride maps and cue sheets) are still a few weeks away, but if anyone would like to join us let me know.
