Formed in June 09, Here Come the Belgians is a non-elite anti-team celebrating all things cross, cobbled and Belgian.
Seeking a different experience to the traditional cycling club, its aim is to harness the energy of a vibrant internet cycling community with grass roots racing and riding based around Cyclocross and Spring Classics. There is no race programme in the style of a racing team, more a collection of individual experiences through rides and racing, in whatever location a member may be, that all can share in and contribute toward.

Team People...

I've been remiss. I've overlooked a valuable contributor to capturing our moments in time.

Jo Allen (Hanglebads), a kit owning team member from the beginning and a valued photographer capturing our days in the dirt. Also to be found with various bits of team kit draped around her person following a frantic start grid strip off.

Apologies for a long overdue addition to the teamlist.

Please may I have some cake now?

  1. HCTB members never need ask for cake! As for being missed off the list, I genuinely believed that mud had to be thrown up by wheels not just kneeled in when taking photos and therefore the reason non-riders were not listed - totally forgiven :)

Also, re the kit - watch out for my nice new red Hunter wellies that should fit in nicely with the new kit (bought by otleyrich to save me from paddling inside my boots as I did last weekend...)

  3. Hi Damon

Well thank you for the compliment but it belongs to Cheryl King

She's a cyclist and cycle coach as well as professional photographer - also a truly nice person and Belgians fan :) There is a pic of Al in the book and she also got some good pics of Belgians at Ingleborough/3 Peaks as she promised despite being very cold... this is a pic of her so you can recognise her... if you see her, say hello! She also has the loveliest dog.

Some photographers around the races come across as (a) not too friendly (b) not as good... but I think some might be photography club people...

My pics are on Flickr - linked of course on this page via my name and the image on the right...

I've picked up a few fans since I started recording the Belgians at play last year - I've put some up for Tap Timing and Sunny has spread the word with enthusiasm so that's been very nice - I put effort into getting muddy to get pics of the team and I've got some fun pics of supporters so I'm getting to know lots of people and enjoying it all - even the mud :)

What I aiming for is to get good shots of every one of the Belgians - I'm thinking that it would be good to know what races people are at so I can go to those if they don't clash with Rich's races... we'll be at Boggart on the 17th.. will you be there?

    Cheers

    Jo

  4. Jo - thanks for the links.

If you want to photograph everyone then you'll need to head south to the Central CX League events and catch me, but at least you wont be too challenged photographing the slow bloke...
