Formed in June 09, Here Come the Belgians is a non-elite anti-team celebrating all things cross, cobbled and Belgian.
Seeking a different experience to the traditional cycling club, its aim is to harness the energy of a vibrant internet cycling community with grass roots racing and riding based around Cyclocross and Spring Classics. There is no race programme in the style of a racing team, more a collection of individual experiences through rides and racing, in whatever location a member may be, that all can share in and contribute toward.

Belgians ride Cumbria 4th july

The last in our trilogy of esoteric and proto-classic rides is this Sunday, 4 July.

Phil Malcolm has crafted a worthy cobbled and rough lane ride around some parts of Western Cumbria you are unlikely to have seen before.

Meet 10.30am in the carpark of Cockermouth Sainsbury's CA13 9QF. Phill will guide you to the free car parks nearby and is organising the after ride food and Belgian beer requirements at the local pub.

Expect the unexpected - don't miss it!

  1. Sounds like fun - will you be taking in the Old Coach Road out of St. John's in the Vale over to Dockray? It looks challenging to say the least. I'll be there on Thursday, with Oom Johan and work mates on the C2C route. If time prevails I might be able to make the start on Sunday as will be in Cockermouth for the last leg back to the cars before going back down to Brum in the afternoon.
