Formed in June 09, Here Come the Belgians is a non-elite anti-team celebrating all things cross, cobbled and Belgian.
Seeking a different experience to the traditional cycling club, its aim is to harness the energy of a vibrant internet cycling community with grass roots racing and riding based around Cyclocross and Spring Classics. There is no race programme in the style of a racing team, more a collection of individual experiences through rides and racing, in whatever location a member may be, that all can share in and contribute toward.

This Week I've Been Mostly Thinking About...

New road wheels...open pro or excellights? Ultegra or dura ace hubs, or Hope or push the boat out, Chris Kings? In red? Sapim race or x-rays? Race are cheaper? Where can you get Chris King hubs anyhow? Ceramic open pro or not? I assume clinchers but I like the idea of fettling on with glue but it just has to be clinchers, right? Maybe...and 4 season tyres or those new Roubaix types from Specialized or is that gimmicky branding? Black or silver? 32 or 36h?

Does this happen to everyone else?

  1. Oh yes. You know what works but you want to try something new like A23s. And then there's the illogical lure of road tubs. Ti record hubs and nemesis rims..... Total empathy here.

  2. How about Stan's Alpha's 340 700c rim - run it clincher or tubeless, light and strong. I'm tempted to build up these for my 3 Peaks/Road wheels as they come in lighter than Open Pros and give the option of trying tubeless for the 3 Peaks;-)
